This catalogue essay for Mohau Modisakeng’s Standard Bank Young Artist Award exhibition, focuses on the relationship between movement and pause as a way of linking a subtly becoming, non-linear and movement-centered approach to gender to social transformations that have failed to move forward and at times retreat.
